Solid Waste Reduction |
5th Grade Green Patrol
WES has recycling stations in every classroom as well as in the Teacher's lounge. All students and staff recycle every day. The Fifth Grade Green Patrol has a list on all stations that tells what is/is not appropriate to put in the recycling box. Every Friday, the 5th Grade Green School Patrol partners up with 1 or 2 Green School Liaisons in every classroom throughout the building to check lights for energy saving conservation and solid waste reduction. It has increased students ability for everyone to take action to reduce solid waste and recognize energy savings. If the classroom passes the inspection, they will receive a green school ribbon that entitles them to an extra 5 minutes of recess that week.

Recycling Bin into Art
Our school likes to turn trash/recycling bin into treasure. The magnet class wanted to decorate the tables for the Capstone judges. They turned paper from the recycling bin into these wonderful apples!
Marker Recycling
In these pictures, the students recycle the used, dried up markers to keep them out of the landfill. WES ships all types of markers to Crayola. We sent 38.4 pounds to be recycled in December of 2019.
