Williamsport Elementary Magnet School
for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
Williamsport Elementary School first became a Green School in 2008 and became re-certified in 2012 and 2016. We are very excited about our goals and accomplishments over the years. Our partners support our school initiatives and works closely with school staff to enhance our academic, extracurricular and green programs. We have worked very hard to continue our Green School Status. In the past and present, we have worked with Recycling Coordinators, the Town Hall, local businesses, and The Canaan Valley Institute and many more. This year, we also began a partnership with a local company to help people begin to use reusable lunch pouches to reduce the lunchtime waste in lunch boxes. We have also increased our amount of recycling to more than just paper, electronics and ink cartridges, and phone books to also include markers and plastic film. WES has shown students that reducing waste really does make a difference.
