Weathering and Erosion63 Fourth graders are collaborating to find the causes and effects of weathering and erosion to the Earth's surface. They used a large measurement tool to measure erosion on our playground. Part of their MWEE project is to find out a solution to this erosion. They concluded that each erosion spot is causing more erosion as they move down in elevation on the playground. If they fix a part in the upper area, the lower area will be less of a problem over time.

Solar Energy
67 Fourth Graders won a Stem Grant from First Energy in 2017. This grant ensured the purchase of all materials for the students to construct their solar ovens and measure the temperature to cook the s'mores.
The students learned the importance of renewable resources and how important they are to our future! WES 4th grade has won this award for 5 years in a row. Lesson: Renewable Resources Date: May, 2017 Teacher: Mrs. Hood, Mrs. Grabenstein (science teachers) Grade: All of 4th Grade |

Day on the C&O Canal
90 Fourth Graders went to the C&O Canal to learn more about Erosion, look for signs of erosion near the canal and about life during the canal days.

Stream Day
This year, 85 4th grade is working on a MWEE project on erosion. We began our project learning about erosion around us. Then, we went to the Byron Memorial Park in Williamsport to study the stream. We did water quality tests, found macro invertebrates, read an erosion article and learned from the Washington County Watershed Specialist.
